Chris Eaden Signs With Phoenix Thunder For 2025 Season
In a move that will shake up the New Zealand Ice Hockey League (NZIHL), the Phoenix Thunder are thrilled to announce the signing of Chris Eaden for the 2025 season.
Eaden, one of the most decorated players in NZIHL history, has spent an incredible 16 seasons in the league, playing 224 games and amassing an astonishing 457 points (246 goals, 211 assists). A lifelong Canterbury Red Devils player before his move to the Sydney Bears last season, Eaden’s decision to suit up for Thunder marks a significant shift in the NZIHL landscape.

Beyond his league success, Eaden has proudly represented New Zealand at every age grade, earning numerous accolades at the international level – including multiple Best Forward titles, Most Points, Most Goals, and Most Assists awards across U18, U20, and senior World Championship tournaments.
With four NZIHL championships, three league MVP titles, and countless scoring records, Eaden brings an elite level of skill, leadership, and experience to the Phoenix Thunder lineup.
