Red Devils Explode Against Stampede
Heading into their game against the Stampede, the biggest
question surrounding the Red Devils after the bye week was could
the team keep their momentum from the first half of the season and
continue to stay hot . The answer was a resounding Yes as the Red
Devils scored 10 on their way to beating the Stampede 10-3.
It took less than four minutes for the Red Devils to find the
back of the net as Captain Adam Soffer netted his first of two with
assists from Hayden Argyle and Dale Harrop. Three minutes later
Daniel Nicholls found the back of the net off a give and go between
Chris Eaden and Mike Everding to give a 2-0 lead. The Red Devils
were to add one more before the period ended. Chris Eaden was
sprung free on a long breakout pass, and after two more quick
passes between American imports Nick D'Onofrio and Jake Krumm,
received a return feed which he buried in the back of the net. The
score after the 1st was 3-0 Red Devils.
The Stampede came out of the locker room and took it to the Red
Devils as Braden Lee quickly netted a goal less than 2 minutes in
on an assist from Gareth Lloyd. However; that is the closest the
Stampede would get as the Red Devils scored three unanswered goals
to take a 6-1 lead into the second period.Captain Adam Soffer got
the scoring started on an unassisted goal at the five minute mark.
Four minutes later Hayden Argyle found the back of the net after
receiving a great pass on a 2-1 from Nick D'Onofrio. Mitchell Oak
also assisted on the play.Chris Eaden closed the scoring on a great
individual effort as he skated around the top of the circles and
whistled a shot 5-hole on the Stampede goaltender.
The first 10 minutes of the third period were back and forth as
neither the Red Devils nor the Stampede were able to establish a
steady pace until Brett Spears netted his first of the game to
bring the score to 6-2. The Red Devils responded in a flurry three
minutes later as they score three goals in the span of 13
seconds.Hayden Argyle started the scoring by blasting a shot past
Matt Swirtz.Five seconds later, Nick D'Onofrio picked up a pass
from Chris Eaden and Jake Krumm and riffled a slap shot from the
blue line that beat the Stampede goalie. The Stampede made a goalie
switch to try and slow the Red Devils down, but it didn't matter as
Jake Krumm scored off a brilliant feed from Nick D'Onofrio and
Chris Eaden. The Stampede got one back before the end of the game
as Connor Harrison banged home a great pass from behind the net
from Daniel Smith.Chris Eaden scored one more for the Red Devils
with less than two minutes to go on assists from Nick D'Onofrio and
Cengiz Akyildiz.
The final shot totals were 34 for the Red Devils to 29 for the
Stampede.
Penalties were 22 minutes for the Red Devils to eight for the
Stampede.
