An exciting game in Christchurch, with the Swarm from Botany
visiting the Red Devils.
Canterbury started the scoring with a great goal from the flying
number 5 Chris Eaden assisted by Assistant Capitan Dale Harrop and
Capitan Adam Soffer. The second Red Devils goal came 30 seconds
later on a break away from Jake Krumm with assists coming from
Stefan Speck and Nick DOnofiro.� The third goal was scored after a
flurry around the net produced a rebound which was fired home by
the French import Bergie (Bertrand Bergeron) assisted by Jake Krumm
and Stefan Speck.� The score after the 1st period was 3
0 Red Devils.
In the second period, the Botany Swarm stepped up their game and
scored four on the Red Devils.� The first and fourth goals were
scored by Alex Polozov and the second and third goals were scored
by Ian Wannamaker.� The assists on the Swarm goals came from Andrew
Hay (2), Jordan Challis (1), Corey Down (1) and Michael Attwell
(1).� The score after the 2nd was 4-3 Botany.
With 15:33 left to go in the third period, the Red Devils tied
the score with an outstanding goal from Assistant Captain Mitchell
Oak assisted by Captain Adam Soffer.� The game stayed tight for the
next eight minutes until Nick DOnofrio scored a huge goal for the
Red Devils from Mitchell Oak and Mike Everding.� The remainder of
the game was very tight with both sides taking penalties in the
closing minutes, but the Red Devils were able to hold on for a 5-4
victory on home ice.
