Game 2 of the weekend the Red Devils came out firing from the
start, making some big hits, which gave them control of the
beginning of the first period. They scored twice quickly, followed
up by another goal later in the period leaving the Thunder playing
catch up. The Thunder finally regained their composure towards the
end of the first scoring a goal which meant they headed into the
break trailing the Red Devils by two.
The second period started with the same intensity of the first.
The Thunder never gave up and stuck to their own game plan which
resulted in them scoring twice. The Devils maintained their
intensity throughout the period and they left the ice with a one
goal lead.
At the start of the third period the game was set to go either
way and both teams hit the ice desperate to win. This led to
Thunder scoring twice and bringing it to a 5 - 5 game. The added
pressure of a tied score resulted in some penalties and Thunder
played 4 minutes on a 5 on 3 with no goals scored. Chris Eaden took
the game for the Red Devils gaining a deflection off the linesman
and wining a one on one with the Thunder goalie.
The Devils scorers were there US imports Nic DOnifrio, Jacob Krumm
and the further goals were scored by the New Zealand Ice Blacks
players Stefan Speck, Chris Eaden, Dale Harrop and Mitchell Oak.
Paris Heyd, Sephen Vlok, Mat Enright, Damien Watson and Quentin
Pepy scored for the Thunder.
Final score 6 - 5 to the Red Devils.
