The Canterbury Red Devils came out with plenty of aggression in
period 1, putting in 2 goals with none for the West Auckland
Admirals. The 2nd period was a hard fought battle with
no goals scored. Early in the 3rd period the Admirals
unleashed their cannon to score one early goal. The Devils didnt
take this lightly and responded quickly with a power play goal
taking the lead 3 to 1. The score remained unchanged until the
final 3 minutes. This is when the Admirals took command and put
away 3 quick goals in a matter of 1 minute, shutting out the Devils
to the end for a 4:3 win. The 2 Finnish imports showed their level
of skills by scoring 1 goal and 4 assists. Further goals scored by
Kiwi players Blake Jackson, Robert Chamberlain and Andy Hart. The
goals scored for the Devils came from Adam Soffer, Chris Eaden and
Anton Purver.
After the 1st round both the Southern Stampede and
West Auckland Admirals are leading the table with equally 6
points.
