Game 2 - 28th June 2009 STP 11 - 0 DTN
The second game of the double header at the Queenstown Ice Rink
on Sunday afternoon saw the Southern Stampede completely dominate
the Dunedin Thunder which once again treated a crowd of over 250
people to a goal fest.
In the first period the Stampede managed to score within two
minutes, and keep constant pressure on the Dunedin Thunder goalie
Rick Parry who once again managed to keep the score respectable at
the end of the first period Stampede 3 - Thunder 0.
The amount of penalties against the Thunder hindered their
ability to effectively defend against a strong and determined
Stampede unit.
The second period again belonged to the Thunder Goalie who was
under pressure from beginning to the end of the period.
The Thunder also defended well during the first half of the
period, but they still could not stop the Stampede having 27 shots
on goal, and finally the Stampede broke through to two goals to
Simon Glass and one to Braden Lee.
End of the Second period Stampede 6 - Thunder 0
In the Third period the Stampede were scoring at regular
intervals, but the Thunder defensive never gave up, but they where
unable to stop the Stampede enslaught.
The Stampede scored another 5 goals in the third peiord.
Stampede Goalie Stephen Reid had a brilliant weekend scoring his
first and second NZIHL shutout.
