The second week in the New Zealand Ice Hockey League saw all five teams in action over the weekend.
The Canterbury Red Devils in the Double header with the Dunedin Thunder and the TicketDirect Southern Stampede, and the 2007 NZIHL Champions the Botany Swarm taking on the West Auckland Admirals in the first of the North Island Rounds.
The Botany Swarm took on the West Auckland Admirals in the first game over the weekend on Saturday night; a good first up performance by both teams and the game couldn’Äôt have been more even.

The game on Sunday took on a more familiar tone with the Botany Swarm scoring 4 unanswered goals in the first period, and another goal in the second, the Admirals where able to keep the Swarm scoreless in the 3rd period.

In Christchurch on Saturday night saw home town team the Red Devils up against the Dunedin Thunder, The Devils started very strongly scoring 11 goals in the first period, and the Thunder where never really able to recover.

On Sunday afternoon, the Red Devils played two times NZIHL champions the TicketDirect Southern Stampede for the first time this season.
After an even first period, the penalty count against the Stampede and their inability to get gets shots on goal saw the Red Devils take control of the game.
Two goals by the Stampede in a strong 3rd period saw them able to keep the Devils scoreless.
